Photo Prints

The MHS offers the option of purchasing archival-quality color prints of items within our collection. We offer prints in two different sizes: 8.5 x 11 inches and 13 x 19 inches. The final print size will be determined by the size of the original and the requirements of the order.

Prints are charged at the same rate as high-resolution digital images:

$45.00/image for prints with existing digital master files

$60.00/image for prints created from the original item

Print images are produced in-house by our digitization staff and made available for pick-up or mailed via USPS. If sent by mail, an additional $10.00 shipping and handling fee will apply.

Orders typically take 4-6 weeks from the date of order approval to delivery.

Requests should be submitted through Portal1791 using the Reproduction/Use Permission request form. In the format field of the form, select the desired size for the print. Use ABIGAIL, the collection guides, or online resources to locate the item(s) to be imaged. Submit a separate request for each item. In cases where only a collection-level record for the material exists, initiate a request for the collection and indicate in the Special Request field of the Reproduction/Use Permission request form which specific item you wish to request.

Your request will be reviewed and an invoice will be prepared for your approval and payment. The print will be mailed through the US Postal Service. You will be notified by e-mail when the print is placed in the mail. If you have opted for pick-up service, you will be notified by e-mail when the print is ready.
